Marlborough is the famous region that has rocketed NZ into the world wine scene. For good or for bad, the wine that hails from here is distinctive, exploding with aromatics and quality and balance are only improving. Located at the top of the South Island, there is no doubt that Marlborough is the epicentre of the New Zealand wine industry - a region synonymous with some of the world's best Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The distinctive conditions of Marlborough - warm, sunny days and cold nights allow winemakers to unleash the unique expressions of grape, not seen anywhere else in the world.

Its gold medals, 93 points and thirst quenching qualities, and I thought, “go on then, for old times’ sake”. And I’m really glad they twisted my arm.

Made by the talented and thoughtful Kate Acland, this small batch magic is the kinda vino that hardcore Marlborough savvy fans go nuts for. I’m talking about punchy tropical fruit aromas, passionfruit, cut grass and minerally flavours, and a palate bright enough to light up a 100-watt bulb.

I’ll never be able to guzzle this grape like I used to, but I will be filling the fridge with some of this for when I want to relive my party days. And if you’re after a little live wire that’ll get the room jumping, then I think you should too.
