Alfred Tesseron caused a real stir releasing at the same price as his 2012 before most of the trade had tasted his 2013. During our visit he was quick to explain his actions but as ever, the proof is in the glass. Once again, Pontet Canet has outperformed most, including many positioned higher in the 1855 classification. The precision is exquisite, beautifully defined fruit, held together but perfectly balanced structure, the lifting acidity providing freshness and lift on a long finish. 2013 came with many challenges and this is another triumph for what is one of the leading estates in Bordeaux, a beautiful wine which will give immense drinking pleasure when the time comes.
